Just Because You Fail in School, College or in Life, Doesn’t Mean You’re a Failure

There’s a difference between failing and being a failure. I’ve met people who see each failure as a sign that they are a failure.  But everyone fails.  Even successful people.  Even your heroes.  Even the people who seem like everything they touch turns to gold.  Even superheroes.  Often we hear about people who’ve succeeded long after they’ve trudged through all those failures along the way, so it can seem like their success came easily.  Perhaps the most important difference between failing and being a failure is that “failing” is just a setback/disappointment whereas “being a failure” is a mindset.

Being a failure is pretty simple. Give up.  That’s it.  It takes a lot more courage, guts, and heart to fail and then keep going.  As long as you’re working toward something that matters to you, then you’re not a failure.

Following are the examples of some of the greatest who failed at school , college or in life but didnt give up and kept on going inspite of people's criticism and today they are highly successful

1.  Steve Jobs:
Billionaire co-founder of Apple Inc and Pixar; dropped out of Reed College to start Apple.
DID YOU KNOW : Steve Jobs  was actually fired from Apple Computers,  the very company that he is responsible for making it the success it is today.  When Jobs was fired from Apple, he was quoted stating “I didn’t see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.”

2. Bill Gates:
He is the billionaire co-founder of Microsoft Corporation, the world largest software company. Dropped out of Harvard to focus on building Microsoft. According to Forbes magazine, Bill Gates has held the position of the world richest man for thirteen consecutive years and he not showing a sign of letting go that position. Also, While still at high school, Gates and pal Paul Allen (his Microsoft cofounder) launched Traf-O-Data, a traffic counter, which they marketed to local governments.
Unfortunately, the business went bust when the state of Washington started offering counters to cities for free. Plus, Gates was arrested in New Mexico for traffic violations. Just sayin’.

3. Richard Branson:
Best known for his adventurous spirit and outrageous business tactics. He dropped out of school at the age of 16 to start his first successful business venture; Student Magazine, bought his own 79-acre Caribbean island when he was just 24 and he was knighted in 1999. He is the billionaire founder of the Virgin brand and its 360 companies. His companies include the famous Virgin Atlantic Airways.

4. Lawrence J. Ellison:
Larry Ellison dropped out of college twice and was told by his adoptive father that he would never amount to anything but he went on to become a billionaire by building Oracle, the world’s second largest software company.

5.  Debbi Fields:
A 20 year old housewife with no education and business experience started Mrs. Fields Chocolate Chippery and became the most successful cookie company owner. She later renamed, franchised, and then sold Mrs. Field’s Cookies.

6. Coco Chanel:
Fashion magnate and founder of the Coco Chanel brand, she never saw the four walls of school.

7. Oprah Winfrey:
Hailed as the “ Queen of Daytime Talk TV” Winfrey was fired from her news reporter gig at a Baltimore news station.  Oprah went on to build a successful following from her daytime talk show “The Oprah Winfrey Show”.  Oprah’s net worth is currently valued at 2.7 billion dollars.

8. Colonel Sanders (KFC)
Colonel Sanders is the entrepreneur who founded KFC “Kentucky Fried Chicken” when he was 56 years old.  His recipe was reportedly rejected over 1,000 times before a restaurant picked it up.

So remember, Failure is just a part of the journey. Don’t ever let it make you believe that you’re a failure.  Maybe you’re failing now, but that doesn’t mean you’ll keep failing.  Show us your resilience.  It’s up to you to bring the tenacity.  You have to bring the fire.  You have to figure out how to make it happen.  You have to get up.  And you can’t let failing along the way keep you down or turn you into a failure.
